Nervous System Development T/F

1. The events of neurulation result in the conversion of a bilaminar embryo to a trilaminar embryo.
2. The notocord develops in the mesoderm and induces overlying endoderm to form the neural plate.
3. The first evidence of eye development appears after the fusion of the posterior (caudal) neuropore.
4. Congenital defects of the eye are often located in the superior portion of the globe.
5. The lens placode and neural crest cells give rise to the lens.
6. The inner layer of the optic cup gives rise to the neural retina and the outer layer of the optic cup gives rise to the retinal pigmented epithelium.
7. Neural crest cells give rise to preganglionic sympathetic fibers, postganglionic parasympathetic fibers, and dorsal root ganglia.
8. Ventral roots do not contain nerve fibers derived from neural crest cells.
9. Neural crest cells migrate from distal to proximal portions of the gut tube.
10. The mantle layer of the developing spinal cord becomes the myelinated region of the adult spinal cord.
