Gluteal Region: For Fun
: 1. The gluteus maximus inserts into the intertrochanteric line. False. This inserts at the iliotibial tract as well as the gluteal tuberosity on the proximal, lateral side of the femur.
: 2. The gluteus maximus is innervated the inferior gluteal nerve but vascularized by the superior gluteal artery.True but it is also vascularized by the inferior gluteal artery (mostly the inferior gluteal artery and some superior gluteal artery contribution according to Gray's)
: 3. The gluteus minimus is innervated by L4, 5, S1. This is true- these are the nerves fo superior gluteal nerve.
: 4. The tensor fascia lata is vascularized by the superior gluteal artery and vein. True- which also supply the gluteus maximus and minimus.
: 5. The piriformis muscle courses through the greater sciatic foramen. True
: 6. The obturator internus muscle passes through the lesser sciatic foramen. True- the tendon of this muscle does pass through the lesser sciatic notch.
: 7. The superior gemellus muscle arises from the ischial tuberosity. False- it originates from the ischial spine.
: 8. The sartorius is the longest muscle in the body. True- thanks lab partner!
: 9. One point of origin of the rectus femoris muscle is the anterior inferior spine. True- the anterior inferior iliac spine.

: 12. The adductor magnus muscle is innervated entirely by the obturator nerve.
False- the distal portion is innervated by the tibial nerve.
