: RE: Lateral Compartment of the Leg--

: The subtopic "Nerves" under the heading "Contents and Relationships" lists the Peroneus Longus as being innervated by the Deep Peroneal Nerve.
: I believe this is an error and am just looking for confirmation. Thanks.

It is generally true that, on dissection, the deep peroneal nerve sends a motor branch to peroneus longus muscle. This branch occurs as the deep peroneal nerve lies between the posterior and anterior intermuscular septae. Nevertheless, peroneus longus is celebrated for being innervated by the superficial peroneal nerve. Further, if Gray's does not mention this, then ignore it. Nevertheless, the final edition of Hollinshead discusses the innervation of peroneus longus by branches of the deep peroneal nerve within the lateral compartment - page 378.

My greater crime was the next bullet where I failed to credit the superficial peroneal nerve for innervating both longus and brevis. I corrected that.

Thank you for calling my attention to this.
