: Can you elaborate on the talus being the key stone of the foot and the tendons of the anterior compartment being suspension lines?
consider that tibialis anterior "suspends" the medial longitudinal arch by its insertions onto the tarsal bones - navicular, cuboid, etc
Keystone: head of talus resting on superior surface of spring ligament.
Flanking stones: navicular and calcanneous; wedge shaped
Staple: Spring lig
tiebeam: all structures crossing plantar side of subtalar joint. eg. skin, plantar fascia, fhl, fdb, fdl, etc
We do not mean to complicate things with an engineering metaphore, this is suppose to be a helpful mnemonic.
Please see the previous essay keys for additional information.
Especially be aware that the peroneus longus tendon contributes to all arches; suspension for lateral, tie beam for the transverse arch, and staple for the medial.
