: 1. The sympathetic nervous system has preganglionic cell bodies at spinal levels from T1 to S5.
: a. False. The sympathetic nervous system has preganglionic cell bodies from T1 to L2/3
Agreed. Note that the use of spinal levels and not vertebral levels.

: 2. The autonomic nervous system, by traditional definition, is a two motor neuron efferent system.
: a. True. Preganglionic and postganglionic
Agreed. No such thing as "parasympathetic afferent fibers." Despite that you will see this phrase in print

: 3. The sympathetic nervous system has preganglionic cell bodies in the lateral horn (intermediolateral cell column - IMLCC) at spinal levels S2-4.
: a. False. They only originate from T1 to L2/3
Agreed. There are IMLCCs at S2-4, but they house parasympathetic preganglionic cell bodies.

: 4. Parasympathetic activity increases intestinal motility and decreases heart rate (bradycardia).
: a. True. Rest and digest…and the diagram
Agreed. Except "and the diaphragm" ?

: 5. In general, the parasympathetic postganglionic fibers are longer than sympathetic postganglionic fibers.
: a. False. Most parasympathetic synapses happen near or at the organ
Agreed.

: 6. The thoracic sympathetic trunk ganglia can be reasonably likened to a 5 legged spider.
: a. False. Spiders have 8 legs….? Unless 3 are missing.
Agreed. Bad question. Count the legs; ascending and descending trunk, two rami communicantes, one splanchnic nerve = 5. Variable

: 7. The rami comumicantes branch from the anterior aspect of a sympathetic trunk ganglion.
: -False. They branch from the posterior aspect of the trunk.
Agreed. Except they branch from a ganglion.

: 8. The splanchnic nerves branch from the anterior aspect of a sympathetic trunk ganglion.
: a. True.
Agreed.

: 9. The spinal nerves are posterior to the sympathetic trunk.
: a. True.
Agreed. In the thorax the rami communicantes are about 1/4 " long; in the lumbar region about 2" long, size of the vertebral bodies and distance from the trunk of the intervertebral foramina.

: 10. The greater splanchnic nerve carries preganglionic fibers from the IMLCC of spinal levels T5-9.
: a. True
Agreed.

: 11. The white ramus of a ramus communican has its cell body in the IMLCC.
: -True. It’s the hallway from the IMLCC to the elevator
Agreed. Should have read, the white ramus of a pair of rami communicantes." The gray ramus has its cell bodies in the sympathetic trunk ganglion.

: 12. The grey ramus of a ramus communican has its cell body in a sympathetic trunk gangion.
: a. True the synapse occurs at the sympathetic trunk
Agreed. Except to say that the sympathetic trunk is interrupted by ganglia. Generally the trunk, other than at the ganglia, is not celebrated for cell bodies. It is the sympathetic trunk ganglia that house cell bodies (postg.)

: 13. The sympathetic nervous system contributes thermoregulation by modulating vasoconstriction and to coronary arterial perfusion by vasodilation.
: a. True
Agreed. Kind of nifty (uber cool). Hence, the phrase; "a cold sweat." You don't want to vasodilate peripheral vasculature to lower temperature in the midst of a saber toothed tiger bearing down on you. You want heart perfusion. Blood is shunted to the core regardless of immediate thermoregulatory needs for the periphery.

: 14. The passing of intestinal gas in an elevator requires an concerted effort on the part of the parasympathetic nervous system driving intestinal movements and the somatic nervous system providing tone to the external anal sphincter.
: a. True
Agreed. The biofeedback craze was aimed at indirectly controlling autonomic events through somatic interaction.

: 15. Thus, although the autonomic nervous system is involuntary, the voluntary nervous system (somatic) has some oversight.
: a. true
Agreed. My thanks to some higher authority on the behalf of those who ride elevators.
